Ethereal darkwave from the Italian band All My Faith Lost…, and one of the great lost records of the genre. Every lyric is drawn from James Joyce’s 1907 poetry collection Chamber Music — the very songs that first won the group a contract with Cold Meat Industry, yet which stayed unreleased for a decade because the Joyce estate refused the rights, a permission famously denied even to Kate Bush. Recorded around 2003 and finally issued in 2013 once those rights were cleared, it gathers hushed male and female vocals over sparse guitar, piano and violin into something quiet, intimate and profoundly melancholic. A perfect record for the long autumn nights: the beauty and sorrow the band were named for, heard at last as first intended.
