The project Autunna et sa Rose is active since 1994 as a contemporary laboratory of many-sided ideas of expression, with the intent to melt together music and poetry suggestion into a new form, finally able to give a strongly complete expression to the most emotive and sometimes even disturbed “motions of the mind”. In fact, the first works form the ensemble originated just from some earlier experiences of a marked literary sort, searching for a delicate symbiotic relationship between music and literature, and also involving some other artistic forms as cinema, figurative arts and especially theatre, considered as the summa of all arts. In this sense, music has always embodied a sort of an “emotional plasma”, able to communicate several meanings in a multi-sensorial way. That is why the chosen musical forms are in strict connection with the theatrical needs that the texts generally require.

Most of the original inspiration sources are related to historical avantgarde movements, in particular surrealism (above all Antonin Artaud 's works) and the connected topics; some indistinct late-romantic influences are still present, but now mixed with a more and more marked inclination to experimental approaches towards contemporary sounds, getting even to avantgarde and ambient-noise electronics.

About live performances, the strategy of interpolating notes with acting and poetical recitations has always been fundamental to place the live show in an atmosphere with no intention of offering an abstract musical connotation: therefore, the central role of acting, considered from a specifically theatrical point of view, the weight of soliloquies and of gesture, mixed with dynamical movements on stage are devised to get the upper hand over everything else and so take the audience to a breeze drifting from the former context. Even the use of videos has strengthened the emotional and magnetically involving impact of the performances, giving the audience a more complete view about the creative universe the ensemble has always tried to communicate: in a single word, the search for the ideal of Gesamtkunstwerk (the “total” work of art).

The debut CD-album titled Sous la robe bleue was issued in 1996: it was a concept album based on a psychodrama of a female character, unable to find the love that she needed to live, and dying in the end because of this lack. In February 2000 Né l'être… éternel was released: it is focused on the eternity of the spirit as a generator of energy, while death is seen as an essential part of life, in search for a symbiotic relationship with Nature modern human beings have a great need to be reconciled with.

In February 2002 was issued Sturm , a music-theatre opus with the special participation (in some tracks) of Steven Brown , historical leader of Tuxedomoon : just one year after the ultimate version of the script was ready. In July 2005 was finally out Odos eis ouranon , double split-CD recorded live with Ataraxia : t he distinctive feature of this live performance was the ability in expressing all that the ensemble in fact strongly needed, and this was definitely due to the relevant collaboration ( continuing since then) with the excellent soprano Sonia Visentin , renowned interpreter of contemporary music.

In May 2006 L 'Art et la Mort was issued by Ark Records: this work is full of literary connections and, by means of a composition idea based on an artistic approach similar to some cubist de-structurating methods, its aim is tracing out a spiritual path aiming to stimulate our personal research on the quintessence of death, soul and eternal life, and once again relating to Antonin Artaud , considered as the sublime prophet.

In July 2012, after a long waiting, the latest work Phalène d'onyx was issued by Ark Records. It is a conceptual work the aim of which is rediscovering the importance of poetic Love in the modern world, more and more victim of this consumer society: poetry and the reflections on the connections to some other artistic ambits can be the keystone to start this initiation trip, in search for a renewed depth of the soul.
